Lakeland opened its expanded health technologies building, keeping its promise to prepare more nurses and health care professionals for the jobs of the future.
Health care is the fastest growing industry in Northeast Ohio, and local employers rely on Lakeland for qualified workers. The state-of-the-art facility has updated equipment and simulation labs for health programs that give students the hands-on training needed to get good jobs, right here. The college launched new health certificate programs in administrative medical assisting, patient navigation/health coach, clinical documentation and bioinformatics. An associate degree in occupational therapy assistant has been introduced as well as certificate programs in polysomnography (the study of sleep disorders) and State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA).
This construction was made possible thanks to: Lake County voter passage of the college's bond issue on Nov. 3, 2015; State of Ohio capital appropriations; and an Ohio Board of Regents Small Campus Targeted Workforce Expansion grant.
